…and the following pics portray just what the post’s title suggests.Just a little fun with old Optimus.I just love this figure and currently have him on display with a few other select figures from my collection on a small shelf in my room.
Now that I have gotten over my Toy Biz fever (I think),I can start going over some of the goodies Jason Vorhees sent over to me in our trade from a little while ago.I’ll start off with the one figure I totally underestimated and it is this incredibly cool version of Bumblebee! This DOTM Wal-Mart exclusive sets itself apart from the rest of the line with a great sculpt, head w/Autobot symbol and superb glossy paint apps!I can’t begin to tell you how impressed I am with both robot and vehicle mode!I’m sure everyone who’s kept up with the blog knows that I am a fan of The Wreckers but am ultimately one member short of completing the team. That’s where Bumblebee comes in :)In Leadfoot’s absence he will know join Topspin and Roadbuster as an honorary member of The Wreckers! Thanks again Jason 😉
This is the part of the post where I tell Dan of http://plasticmayhem.blogspot.com/ to look away for I will yet again be talking about a DOTM Transformers figure LOL!After watching and really enjoying TF DOTM ,three characters in the film really grew on me.Topspin,Leadfoot and Roadbuster make up “The Wreckers”,an Autobot sub-group/commando unit who are easily the heaviest armed TF’s in the movie and really stand out from the myriad of characters who make an appearance in the film. These three distinct Autobots take the form of NASCAR Stock Cars based on the same ones driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr.(Roadbuster),Juan Pablo Montoya (Leadfoot) and Jimmie Johnson (Topspin). While I am in no way a fan of NASCAR I do like the concept and the facsimile Earnhardt Jr. signature on Roadbuster. So far I have Topspin and now Roadbuster leaving me with just one more Wrecker(Leadfoot) to acquire in order to complete the team.Enjoy the pics!
Today we take a look at Sideswipe from the DOTM line of TF figures.Of the DOTM figures I already have, this guy is by far my favorite. Alot of the DOTM TF’s have proportion issues but Sideswipe clearly doesn’t.Everything about Sideswipe’s sculpt flows.A couple of paint apps here and there and this figure would be a perfect 10. I would have also liked to have an Autobot faction symbol somewhere on the robot or car mode but I can live without it.Everytime I pick up a new DOTM figure I hop on Netflix and load up TF DOTM to catch scenes that feature them and Sideswipes is pretty bad a#$!He and Bumblebee along with another red sports car (who’s name escapes me) are being chased at all kinds of high speeds by Decepticon Crankcase(black SUV) and his henchmen.Although not as popular with collectors as other TF’s lines are, this is one DOTM figure that may be worth checking out.Enjoy the pics!
Continuing on with my quest to hunt down as many DOTM figures as possible (especially since most are on clearance around these parts) here we have Barricade! Not much to say about car mode other than the fact that it looks amazing!Love the fact that the cop car is actually a bad guy in disguise 😉 I remember first seeing Barricade in the first TF movie and really digging him.It doesn’t get any more intimidating than Barricade in that scene as he gets in the face of Shia Labeouf to interrogate him.In DOTM Barricade makes a quick appearance towards the end of the film. Now alot of people have a problem with his robot mode but I don’t.I think the problem lies in how some people transform him.I believe the proper way to transform him involves the legs being separated, making him look like he has no torso.I on the other hand don’t separate the legs and that tends to give him more of an upright and balanced look. The one gripe I have is with his mechtech weapon. While it looks cool when deployed with the claw exposed,It’s not able to lock in place. I think the claw is a big part of Barricades appearance and overall vibe and the fact that it can’t be displayed permanently is a minor turn off.Other than that i’m loving this figure and will soon have to make more room to display these neat little DOTM Transformers!
A while back I had spotted some TF Prime figures at a nearby TARGET and the one that stood out to me the most was Wheeljack. That green and white color scheme immediately caught my eye because It reminded me so much of the original 80’s cartoon Wheeljack!I brought it home and even did a post about it only to be disappointed by the absence of his Autobot faction symbol. Now I know I’m “beating a dead horse” here and most everyone who collects TF prime figures have already come to terms with this but not this collector.I still don’t know the reasoning behind all this and maybe someone can clarify this for me but if I’m buying a TF figure it darn well better have an Autobot or Decepticon faction symbol on it somewhere . Long story short,I returned the TF Prime Wheeljack only to have my socks knocked off a couple days later when I accidentally bumbed into this awesome TF Generations Wheeljack on clearance at my local Marshalls department store!I wasn’t even there for TF’s and they just so happened to have a s^%$ load of em’!Most of them were the not so popular DOTM movie figures and the rest were Generations.I should have snagged up more but ended up walking away with an Optimus Prime DOTM Voyager Class and this totally sick Generations Wheeljack figure!I just love this guy and from what I hear(shout out to Jason Vorhees)the rest of the Generations line is pretty sick as well.I am also a fan of the DOTM Mechtech movie TF’s so I will be on the look out for both of these lines as I’ve gotten bit by the TF’s bug recently.Enjoy the pics!
Like I’ve stated in the past,my favoritism towards certain action figures in my collection varies from week to week. There are times where I’ll be holding an action figure and say to myself “Man,this is one bad a$# figure!”. This past week I’ve been doing that a lot with my Transformers, and right now they stand atop my” favorite action figures right now” list.I’ve already done posts on my DOTM Prime and Bumblebee figures, and this week will be looking at DOTM Deluxe Class Thundercracker and TF’s Generations Wheeljack.I’ll be vacationing this week so I’ll try to get the Wheeljack post in on Tuesday before I head out 😉 As far as Thundercracker goes, I’m seriously diggin’ him!The photo of him on the back of the card doesn’t really do the actual figure any justice.I only picked him up because of the Jet mode and how much it reminded me of the G1 version of him I owned as a kid.I didn’t expect to like his robot mode as much as I do now!One of the cool things about these contemporary TF’s is the amount of articulation and pose-ability of them.I was able to get some pretty cool stances out of Thundercracker holding his weapons and the menacing look on his robotic chiseled face is downright spine tingling. There is an anti-heroic presence about this figure that will have you wanting to take pics of him next to other baddies you may have in your collection.I opted to do a side by side shot with my Resolute Cobra Commander. If you haven’t jumped on the Transformers bandwagon yet i strongly suggest you do so .The pleasure of looking at these amazingly engineered action figures displayed side by side with other TF’s or any 3 3/4 figures you may have is priceless. They literally stand out and as frustrating as it can be sometimes, transforming these guys will instantly bring you back to your childhood!Enjoy the pics 🙂
I am finally an owner of an Optimus Prime figure!I never owned, but always wanted the G1 version and i used to have that small Family Dollar Prime but nothing like this.I know there are other, more fancy shmancy versions of Optimus out there right now but I’m totally happy with my DOTM Voyager Class Fireburst Prime. After Jason from www.http://jasonvorhees.wordpress.com/ turned me on to TF’s figures,I thought that i should start off my collection with an Optimus Prime figure. This would prove to be a tough task considering that most of the bigger scale Prime’s were super expensive and very hard to find in the wild.Luckily I was able to find this version at a local Marshalls on clearance along with a ton of other TF figures that I’ve had on my radar for a while now.The best part about collecting IMO is finding something you’ve been looking for in a place where you never would have expected it to be.Go figure.Enjoy the pics 😉
A while back i received a toy package from fellow blogger Jason Vorhees which included a couple of cool Transformers figures,Brimstone and Leo Prime.Since then I’ve been pretty much hooked and recently picked up a DOTM Bumblebee figure which I absolutely love!I had been wanting an Optimus Prime figure as of late but didn’t want to buy the smaller scale and the larger scales were way too pricey.Luckily, while scanning the toy clearance section of a nearby Marshalls, i was able to scoop up a decent sized DOTM Fireburst Optimus as well as a Generations Wheeljack !Now while I would have preferred the Optimus to be a bit bigger,he still stands taller than my 3 3/4 Joe figures and should look great next to them when i display them side by side.As far as the Wheeljack figure goes,if you recall i had recently returned a TF Prime version of him so i was thrilled to find this one. This is the Wheeljack i know and love from the 80’s cartoon series! The Thundercracker DOTM fig i picked up at regular price from my local Wal-Mart and did so more for nostalgia’s sake.I used to own the original G1 version of him as a kid so this one was a must grab.I also needed another Decepticon tp pair up with my Brimstone fig 😉 I’ll be doing separate posts for each of these guys and a couple other 3 3/4 clearance figures i picked up as well in the next couple of days. Enjoy the pics!
