Continuing on with the Marvel invasion/5 point persuasion! We have yet another figure lacking in the articulation department, but overflowing with Asgardian appeal! These figures can be found pretty much anywhere they sell action figures and for a great price! I thought Thor here would look great next to my Spidey and soon to be showcased Wolverine and Hulk figures! All 5 pointers! I can see why people get turned off by these highly immobile superheroes, but that’s only because Marvel Universe has spoiled us rotten. If you’ve already snagged up Spider-Man, then this awesome Thor figure should be next on your list. I love the inclusion of Mjolnir as a separate accessory and not just a permanent mold attached to Thors right hand. The cape is made of a durable, yet soft plastic which is solidly attached. The paint apps are pretty much spot on and the deep blue used on the overall sculpt is downright menacing. The cool thing about these figures are the head sculpts, which look more than decent to say the least and can look side to side as well as up and down. Enjoy the pics!
I’ve been after this figure almost as long as I’ve been after the 80’s Secret Wars version. This IMO is the ultimate Wolverine action figure! It’s that good. A brown suited Wolverine figure with this much articulation would have blown our minds as kids. If ever (and “ever” could mean very soon) I choose to sell off some of my collection, this one will be a definite keeper. In fact I’m thinking about setting up a website to start getting rid of some stuff online and hopefully make a couple extra bucks in the process , and when I do, this guy is staying put 🙂 Everything from the facial expression down to the included sword, ala the 90’sToy Biz version. The scale is perfect, too. The Wolverine Origins line spawned some really cool versions of Wolverine, this being one of them. Enjoy the pics!
Whether or not you like the new Avengers Assemble Gamma Fist Hulk may come down to a matter of perspective and how you look at him. Literally . From the top down he’s as menacing and awesome looking as any other 3 3/4 Hulk figure out there, head sculpt wise .The strangeness sets in the minute you look at that same head sculpt from a different angle . Head on and from underneath, Hulk’s expression changes into a more laid back , relaxed demeanor . It’s odd , but in no way does it take away from this action figure’s overall presence and coolness. I’ve seen video reviewers criticize everything from the small head sculpt on down to the flatness of his fee t! Yes , you heard right-the flatness of his feet ! LOL . Everybody is entitled to their own opinion I guess , although, I’d go as far to say that the feet are actually a strong point for this figure as they feature the very much adored rocker joints . The body sculpt lacks the shading most MU figures sport , but makes up for it in detail . The muscles on this figure have muscles. Something the movie version really lacked.I’m also digging the brighter green. Also, this is a big figure as far as the 3 3/4 scale goes and pretty much dwarves most of the recent Hulk figures that have been released. A word of warning . If you do decide to pick this figure up,go easy on the leg joints at first. My right leg seemed to be stuck in place while the left moved back and forth , no problem . After messing around with it a little, I realized that I could get the right leg to move back and forth by moving the left one with it at the same time . After that, the pose-abilty is pretty much endless.Articulation is another upside to this figure . Their haven’t been any really impressive Hulks on store pegs since the latest MU release, but hopefully this figure will change that and get the praise that, IMO, it fully deserves.Enjoy the pics!
Excuse me while I channel my inner 8 year old to say that Cobra Commander is one of my all time favorite “bad guy” leaders.I got a soft spot for C.C.,especially when he got played by Destro,Mindbender and Serpentor in the classic animated film.I used to love when he got hands-on with the Joe’s.You know, actually jumping into a vehicle and taking it to Dukes doorstep with a squad of lackey yet loyal,Cobra troopers behind him. That’s why I like this figure so much.Jboypacman(John) over at The Clawful Punch sent this little gem of a C.C. figure over in a trade we completed a while back, and I’m really diggin’ the firepower that came with it.It took me a minute to figure out where the two missiles went, but realized where they went soon after. Now I gotta find the electronic back pack that came with it originally .Apparently it spat out various commands and i’m wondering if it actually sounded like the C.C. from the cartoon series.Enjoy the pics!
“Get your Cobra Commander action figure with bust-a cap action today!”
I picked this up a little while ago and since then i’ve opened and played with it a bit.I’m not too thrilled with this version but it will fit in nicely with the rest of my Snake Eyes figures.Loose pics coming soon! Also,My girlfriend recently picked up an awesome display case for me,well sorta, that i’ll be showing soon here on Action Figs and Things. So stay tuned for that and future posts on Zod,Batman and the Avengers reference book as well!
I’m hooked on the Pursuit of Cobra line all over again.I almost forgot how much fun it is to rip open action figure packaging that has actual contents inside and not just some old solitary action figure. The POC line of G.I. Joe figures does a great job at pushing those nostalgic buttons that bring us back to a time when action figures came with a myriad of accessories and fold out inserts! Those inserts with action pics of other figures available from the line were what fueled our desire to save up our pennies in order to fulfill that elusive dream of one day owning the entire collection. As far as accessories go,they defined the figure they came packaged with.I mean what was Storm Shadow without his bow and arrow back-pack.Snake Eyes without Timber.Zartan without his mask disguise and Bazooka without his…..well…his bazooka.Hasbro definitely hit the mark with the Pursuit of Cobra line of figures.
Cloth cape FTW!
Could this ominous box containing an unknown element be what Fury and Duke were discussing in their last encounter?
Initially i was going to hook up a real cool background to snap some some extra cool pics of Law and Order dueling it out with Firefly but i wasn’t really feeling it.So i opted for the simple “toy-on-the-shelf” pic and added a couple of Best-Lock military figs to fill out the checkpoint tower.I’m still not crazy about Lego figs but the fact that these are representations of Joe figures that were super popular when i was a kid make these Kre-O sets all the more appealing.Enjoy the pics!
