Recent Acquisition #5 – 1985 Rambo(Firepower)

There were a couple other smaller items that i will go over in the near future, but for now this will be the final “Recent Acquisition” post……sheesh!I know… the acquisitions aren’t even recent any more….but moving forward. This figure was the focal point of the trade Jason and i pulled off a while back and is a welcomed addition to my small collection of Rambo figures. It came loose without any accessories but I was lucky enough to hunt some of them down online and make this a semi-complete Rambo figure. One of the straps is missing from the motorized backpack along with a rifle, some grenades and the original knife.I do have some extra weapons laying around for this line of figures  just in case i pick up any incomplete, loose figures.Enjoy the pics!

Recent Acquisition #4-G.I. Joe Combat Heroes-Snake Eyes/Timber/Zartan

This was one of the centerpieces included in the trade i recently made with Jason Vorhees.Combat Heroes.I told myself a long time ago that i would never collect any of these cool little figures because of  the overall collectability of them. There were just so many of these on store pegs everywhere,i was afraid they would take my focus off of  more important pieces needed to fill out my collection. If that makes any sense.Long story short…being the Snake Eyes collector that i am,naturally i was going to  ask  Jason if he had anything Snake Eyes related to add to the mix, and   he quickly sent me a picture of these little guys! Now normally i wouldn’t have gone for these Combat Heroes figures but this was Snake Eyes…and Timber…and Zartan we were talking about here!Needless to say i accepted the offer and now i own 3 Combat Heroes  🙂 I wanted this set mainly because of  Snake Eyes and Timber and thought they would be a unique pair to add to my small yet growing collection of Snake Eyes figures. It turns out that the Zartan figure is just as cool! His vest is made of  a translucent blue plastic that looks great when light shines through it.The pics i took demonstarting that are a little blurry because i took them without the flash.

Recent Acquisition #3 -’91 G.I. Joe-Bushido

I was extremely happy to see this in the package Jason Vorhees sent me because it was a Joe!Any day you’re able to add a new Joe to the collection is a good day.I remember seeing this figure first on the Arc and really liking it.The 90’s Joe line featured  lots of martial art/Ninja characters and Bushido here is one of them.I got this one loose without accessories but still dig  the heck out of it.I quickly jumped on YOJOE.com to get some info on this guy and it turns out that he’s a “Snow” Ninja from Queens,NY.I think “Arctic” Ninja would have sounded better but “Snow”Ninja will do.How cool is it that he’s from Queens,NY!I can picture this guy high atop a snow covered apartment building in the middle of winter ready to pounce! He kind of comes off as a Marvel character with somewhat of an Iron Fist vibe to em’.Check out the Chuck Taylors in the last pic!”Kiss my cons!”  😉

Recent Acquisition #2-1997 ToyBiz Hercules(T.V. Series)-Mesomorph

It took me a while to figure out what line of figures this guy was from but thanks to http://www.collector-actionfigures.com/dash/home/  i was able to track down its origins. It seems like Toy Biz made an action figure line for pretty much all that existed  for much of the 90’s.I’m pretty sure if i searched hard enough ,i’ll find a 90’s Toy Biz action figure of me.This is another cool figure included in the trade package sent over to me by Mr.Vorhees, and it is none other than Mesomorph from the live action TV series Hercules.Remember Mesomorph? No?Yeah me neither, but he is one sick looking little figure and fits in nicely with my other Toy Biz figures on display. He has a cool little action feature that make his arms flail up and down .While i am not a huge fan of the show, the figures look pretty cool and may be worthy of a second look  if your into Greek Mythology. In other words, you don’t have to be a fan of the series to enjoy these Toy Biz creations 😉

Recent Acquisition-1990 Ghostbusters-Winston Zeddmore

I recently acquired a few new figures in a trade with  Jason Vorhees  over at http://jasonvorhees.wordpress.com/  and throughout the week i’ll be posting about them.I’ll start things off with this Winston Zeddmore figure  from the -Slimed Heroes- line of  Kenner’s Ghostbusters figures released in 1990. I’ve been wanting to add some Ghostbusters to my collection, particularly from the first wave of figures released in the mid to  late 80’s,so i was pretty excited about finding this in the package Jason  sent me.While not an 80’s release,it’s still an awesome representation of Zeddmore.I’ll be on the look out for a replacement backpack and i’m assuming ones from the 80’s figures can fit on this figure as well. Now i’ll have to hunt down Venkman,Spengler and Stantz to complete the team.A big shout out to Jason for this and the rest of the figures i’ll be showing over the course of this week.

1991 Toy Biz – Wolverine’s Mutantcycle 10/22-10/28

I was going to pick up a ’91 TB Wolverine figure already but after acquiring his Mutantcycle in a trade with Jason Vorhees,it was almost imperative that I  snag one up pronto!Because I kind of rushed the process a bit when it came to picking up this Wolverine figure I wasn’t able to find a complete one in better condition, but this one more than serves it’s purpose and looks great when placed upon his Mutantcycle. This little gem arrived in it’s original box and while it’s in pretty rough shape I’m still going to hang onto it as a reference and for the cool pics and graphics. The cycle itself was in mint condition and still attached to the protective inserts. It’s a good thing to acquire a piece like this still MIB because of it’s easily scratched and damaged chromed out parts.I must say that i’m not too thrilled with the funny looking Wolverine face on the front of the bike ,but again,it was all about the fun factor with these toys and as a kid I would have had a ball with this motorcycle.Luckily the Wolverine face flips upwards when a figure is placed on the bike and turns into what i’m assuming are Wolverine fangs. I’ll be placing this baby alongside the rest of my Toy Biz figures in chronological order as later on this week we’ll be taking a look at a Toy Biz  X-Men/ X-Force figure released in ’92!

A Few New Acquisitions!

A little while ago fellow blogger Jason Vorhees and I worked out a little trade and my package arrived today!I pretty much knew what I was getting already but Jason surprised me with a sealed set of 1989 Fleer Update baseball cards! The funny thing is that I was already thinking about collecting cards again and my focus was going  to be on the ’88 and ’89 stuff so this gives me a bit of a head start 🙂 Within the set are RC’s of Randy Johnson,Robin Ventura,Jim Abbott,Todd Zeile and Deion Sanders!Awesome extra Jason!I’m also finally a proud owner of a vintage Thundercat figure and it is of my favorite character from the 80’s series Panthro.I’m also super impressed with the Bumblebee figure and can’t wait to make him an official member of the Wreckers  ;)Last but certainly not least is this gem of a Toy Biz item still in its  original box!Don’t let the box fool you, though,as the contents within are in Gem Mint condition and also alot bigger than I expected it to be.Thanks again  Jason!

1992 Kenner Aliens-Lt.Ripley

The movie Aliens came out in 1986 and i must admit that i wasn’t that big of a fan of the sci-fi flick.I was 9 years old at the time and although i loved alien creatures and outer space adventures,Aliens just never grabbed my attention. What i do remember from the film was sigourney Weaver and how much of a bad a$# she was.So whenever Aliens would come on T.V. i would change the channel  during the long ,drawn out dialogue heavy scenes but always switch back to it just to catch Sigourney Weaver(Lt.Ripley) expend some major clippage into some very creepy looking aliens! So i was pretty excited to see this figure in the package Jason http://jasonvorhees.wordpress.com/  sent me and while I’m not a big fan of the movie,I still loved the iconic role of Lt.Ripley played by Sigourney Weaver! Thanks again Jason, you have sparked my interest in this toyline and now i must hunt down a few more figures from this cool line!

Jason was even cool enough to send her to me with accessories and this cool Alien spawn face hugger!

Shout Out to Jason Vorhees!

A while back Jason from the 80’s laden  toy and vintage gaming blog   http://jasonvorhees.wordpress.com/  ,scored an awesome N64 system at a Boy Scout rummage sale and kindly offered to pass it on to me.I’m a pretty big fan of the system and just couldn’t pass it up.So when i get an Email from Jason stating that the N64 shipped along with a ton of other stuff i was pretty excited.Today i get home  and find a USPS “sorry we missed you” slip in my mailbox.Luckily the mailman had just left it and was only a couple houses down from me,so i was able to track him down and retrieve the package. And what a hefty package it was!The N64 would have been enough but when i opened the parcel to reveal two carded Transformers figures as well as a bunch of other awesome action figures and collectibles i let out a resounding “HOLY $%^&!Lot’s of cool stuff here guys,Jason really out did himself  and i can’t thank him enough for it :)!I don’t know where to start as far as what to talk about first because there is so much to choose from,so I’ll be doing individual posts in the upcoming weeks to properly showcase the awesomeness! Some stuff i will pass on while others are a must-keep(that ’82 E.T. miniature is amazing  😉 ).Thank you Jason for making my week end an eventful one,for I will spend it taking photos of and researching some very cool toys!
