Prologue
Avengers Assemble – Thor
Continuing on with the Marvel invasion/5 point persuasion! We have yet another figure lacking in the articulation department, but overflowing with Asgardian appeal! These figures can be found pretty much anywhere they sell action figures and for a great price! I thought Thor here would look great next to my Spidey and soon to be showcased Wolverine and Hulk figures! All 5 pointers! I can see why people get turned off by these highly immobile superheroes, but that’s only because Marvel Universe has spoiled us rotten. If you’ve already snagged up Spider-Man, then this awesome Thor figure should be next on your list. I love the inclusion of Mjolnir as a separate accessory and not just a permanent mold attached to Thors right hand. The cape is made of a durable, yet soft plastic which is solidly attached. The paint apps are pretty much spot on and the deep blue used on the overall sculpt is downright menacing. The cool thing about these figures are the head sculpts, which look more than decent to say the least and can look side to side as well as up and down. Enjoy the pics!
5 Points And Proud!
I like the fact that HASBRO is still focusing its attention on the youngsters by putting affordable, simple product out on the shelves of Family Dollar toy aisles everywhere. As a kid, I didn’t have Family Dollar. I had Fays, which coincidentally used to be where our local Family Dollar is now. Fays was a drug store with a toy section similar to a hot midget-tiny but sexy (did I just write that?). While not the biggest of toy aisles, heavyweights like G.I. Joe, Secret Wars and Transformers always populated the pegs. I bought my first Secret Wars figure from Fays, Dr.Doom. Mattel’s Secret Wars line of action figures were based on the famous “Secret Wars” comic mini series , and consisted of some of Marvel’s most prominent characters. While limited in articulation to just 5 points, each figure had a ton of personality! The brightly colored figures would almost certainly attract attention, much like this new line of Family Dollar Marvel Universe figures would catch mine!
Seeing this Spider-Man figure on the pegs conjured up old Secret Wars memories that the new, more articulated Marvel figures of today have so blatantly suppressed. And even though we all loved our Secret Wars Spider-Man figures back in the day, this was what we really wanted him to look like! I already knew the paint was perfect just by inspecting the easy-to-view figure inside the packaging. My only concern was that when I finally got my Spidey home and unboxed, would he have that same plasticky feeling  that my childhood favorite Secret Wars figures had?
Yes!This was a childhood experience relived ,people! Hasbro managed to make an affordable, kick ass Spider-Man figure comparable, and arguably better than most of the lesser articulated movie figures being sold now for almost twice as much!
There are other figures in this line like Wolverine, Captain America and Hulk, but this is the gem. Even If you can’t bare to even look at a figure with less than 25 points of articulation, Spidey here is the exception. I’ve seen a lot of Spider-Man figures that have managed to capture his classic look, but few have come as close to it as  this “Dollar” store Spidey 😉

The Amazing Spider-Man-Lizard (sewer clash)
This  rendition of the Lizard was one that i had been on the fence about. After looking at the figure close up,i can appreciate it a little more. Now lets get to the elephant in the room.In the film,Lizard towers over little old  Spidey and there is an obvious height differential. In the pics below you can see that Lizard is about the same height as Spider-Man.Not cool.Fortunately it doesn’t take away from the sculpt and overall the figure is detailed nicely.A super-soaker  😉  i mean  weapon was also included  for Lizard but i found it difficult to get him to stand up while holding it,so pics of  him face down on the shelf with  slightly detached accessory have been omitted. The fact that i got this set for 7 bucks, and single carded Lizard’s  are still selling for 9 justifies everything. These figures won’t blow you away but the price tag will, assuming you can find them at your local Marshalls. If you’r looking for a  decent  Spider-Man and Lizard movie figure then this is the set to hunt down. I wouldn’t pay anything over 10 dollars for it though.
The Amazing Spider-Man-Spider-Man (Sewer Clash)
I’ll start this post with the protagonist of the three pack ,Spider-Man.Not a bad figure with limited(9 points),yet workable articulation.Love the deep blue color scheme on the textured uniform. It reminds me of the new 3 3/4  Superman figure. The launcher added as a gimmick also has a cool design.Must be a Tony Stark innovation 😉
The Amazing Spider-Man – Sewer Clash w/Spider-Man and Lizard (CLEARANCE!)
Super Poseable Spider-Man (revisited)
Looking through my stash of action figures i came across one that i seem to  underrate and overlook  a lot.Super Poseable Spider-Man released a few years back and it was one of a slew of really cool figures produced  for the ” Fiercest Foes” line. I don’t think  “Fiercest Foes” is the correct name of the toy line but if you google it,this and other figures from the line should pop up.  Every once in  a  while  i’ll grab a random figure that catches my eye out of the old toy bin and see it in a whole new light.Such was the case with this one. So…”Fiercest Foes” Super Poseable Spider-Man….. this Bud’s for you!
Marvel Handful of Heroes – Spider-Man/Zzzax
The Zzzax character i know nothing about. For some reason my camera started acting strange and had a hard time focusing  in on it as well.Weird stuff.Anyways, here’s two more as i am trying to get these out of the way to get to a pretty cool Green Lantern figure i picked up a little while ago to go along with my 3 3/4 Superman and Batman movie figures !
